Volunteer Opportunities at the Walkway
The Organization:
Walkway Over the Hudson, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit group, works to support and improve Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park by raising funds to improve amenities and provide long-term stewardship to the park. Our critical mission depends upon engaged members, volunteers and donors who share our vision for the park. http://www.walkway.org
Office Volunteer Tasks
Position Summary:
Office volunteers provide critical support to Walkway’s administrative functions. This role is a hands-on opportunity to support the day-to-day office operations of the Walkway.
Office coverage needed weekly.
Priorities & Responsibilities:
• Operate central telephone system; forward calls as required, greets visitors and responds to inquiries.
• Process and post incoming and outgoing mail. Wrap and send packages requiring special handling. Assist with mailings (stuff envelops) as needed. -sorting, light lifting (up to 5 lbs.)
• Scan (photocopier) and clip press coverage about Walkway.
• Online internet research. -basic computer knowledge
• Regular data entry of external contact information (business cards and contact information) -Microsoft Excel knowledge needed
• Archiving/sorting/ filing of print materials -light lifting (up to 5 lbs.), sorting, squatting

Community Calendar Volunteer
Position Summary:
The Community Calendar Volunteer provides critical support to Walkway’s administrative community outreach and marketing. This role is a hands-on opportunity to work with various programming initiatives of the non-profit organization and assist with event and activity promotion.
Minimum requirement of 6-8 hours per month, preferably within the first week. The volunteer in this role will regularly be using Microsoft Excel.
Priorities & Responsibilities:
• Identify regional print- and online- calendars, community page and other sources Walkway events and activities should be posted.
• Maintain a list of regional print- and online- calendars, community page and other sources where Walkway is promoted.
• Identify events, business and local venues to distribute information or partner on activities.
