Turkey day might be over, but we haven’t forgotten about you or the
great work and big effort that you all put into Thursday’s event! You
were all there bright and early and saw the event through from start
to finish. With almost 1,300 participants this year (a record again!),
it’s no surprise really that our volunteer group grew to 90+! Family
of New Paltz opens again on Monday, so I don’t know j quite yet how
much money we raised, but I suspect it’s a record, considering more
than $13,000 in sponsor money alone!
Thanks to you all for all of your help from Rock & Snow
pre-registration, day-of setup, to registration, data-entry, route,
water stop, parking, volunteer check-in, information, potty-patrol,
chip-distribution and collection, the mashed potato race, the start,
the finish, the food/water, the prizes, clean-up – and probably more
that I’m not thinking of right now! It’s all so important and without
you all, this event simply could not happen!
It starts and ends so quickly (in just a matter of hours) and it’s
such a whirlwind of activity that Suzanne and I don’t get an
opportunity to speak or thank every one of you. There are a handful of
people that just show up and help out each year and I don’t even have
their contact information. So, to you all – I am certainly thankful!
I would love go get your feedback regarding the different areas of the
event with which you assisted. If you have comments, suggestions for
improvement, thoughts about coverage (i.e.were there enough volunteers
in your area?), constructive criticism, your eagerness to help on your
committee next year to be sure that we improve the event – please let
us know. These are all things we want to hear. You were all out there
and know what worked, what didn’t, what people liked, what they
complained about, so please pass that on.
We know that there were data issues with the registration and getting
the results completed – still working on that and hope that we’ll be
able to deliver something soon. So, aside from that, we’d love to get
your input!
If you have any questions, or if you loaned something for the event
that you did not yet get back, please don’t hesitate to contact me at
turkeytrot@gmail.com.
Remember, the volunteer shirts we used this year can be used in years
to come, so hold onto them if you think you’ll volunteer again.
THANK YOU AGAIN!
Dawn
