Letter from Rik Flynn, UlsterCorps President, March 30th, 2010

I want to thank you all, so very much, for the outstanding work you delivered on behalf of the Hudson Valley Hunger Banquet last Sunday evening!

You should know that there were many, many positive remarks made through the course of and the conclusion of the evening from organizers, the keynote speaker Sarah Copeland, the “MC” Ward Todd and participants about how thorough, conscientious and effective all of you were as volunteers for this first-time, fabulous event! Oftentimes and in many situations, the work was challenging. I know, in several cases, having spoken briefly with some of you, that this event was not the only thing you were doing on Sunday. Your lives were busy with other volunteer activities earlier and/or you had other obligations prior to coming to help with the Hunger Banquet. Nonetheless, you made the time to go “above and beyond the call” of duty!

You might be interested to know that you were part of well-over eighty people that answered the call and provided all the critical elements to ensure that the Banquet was a success. Although it is not my decision alone, I’m pretty certain that this Banquet was the first of what will be conducted many more times on an annual basis. We will be back in touch to inquire whether or not you would like to be involved again!

In the mean time, would you like to be informed of other events either sponsored by or collaborated with UlsterCorps? I think I probably told all of you when I was asking for your contact information, that it would not be used except for the purposes of the Hunger Banquet unless you specifically gave us permission to do so. In addition to our website, we have a monthly e-newsletter that goes out as well as an Action Alert when sudden, immediate needs arise in our county. We also maintain a database of volunteers who allow us to save their contact information and skillsets to attempt to match with volunteer opportunities in the future. If you would like to be placed in any or all of these categories, simply reply to this email and will follow through, or do so yourself here:

We would also love any feedback you might offer – what did the experience mean to you? What could we do to make it better next year? Please let us know what we could to do improve your experience by replying to this mail or taking our brief Volunteer Survey:

Again, a huge thanks. Speaking for Co-directors Beth and Nancy and myself … and all 12 Hunger Relief Organizations you helped on Sunday … thank you for working with us on behalf of the Hunger Banquet!
