Rescuing Leftover Cuisine
Rescuing Leftover Cuisine (RLC) is a non-profit food rescue organization headquartered in New York City and operating in 12 cities, including Poughkeepsie/Kingston in the Mid-Hudson area. RLC rescues food that would otherwise be wasted from restaurants, farmers markets, wholesalers and others sources and donates it to homeless shelters and soup kitchens in need. RLC relies on volunteers, such as you to rescue food. RLC volunteer rescue efforts are designed to be easily replicable, and easily integrated as a small part of your work/school schedule, taking at most 1-1.5hour per rescue. The Mid-Hudson branch, focusing primarily in Dutchess and Ulster County, has rescued over 30,000lbs of food since June 2015. We have been working primarily in Dutchess County, and are looking to expand our food rescue efforts in Ulster County, particularly the Kingston/Saugerties area.
