Keep Your Garden Green, Without Spending Lots of Green

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ulster County’s Master Gardeners will help garden enthusiasts with money saving gardening advice at Garden Day 2009. This day long event will take place on Saturday, April 25 in Vanderlyn Hall at SUNY Ulster in Stone Ridge from 8:30am to 4:00pm. Pre-registration is $30 per person if received on or before Friday, April 17, along with your choices of 4 separate classes for the day. Registration the day of the event is $35. This year’s theme, “The Frugal Gardener”, features an array of experts speaking about a variety of the hottest trends in gardening. There are 16 hands-on and how-to classes available to choose from. Keynote speaker, Margaret Roach, will open the program with her presentation entitled, “Making a Garden for 365 Days a Year”. Other topics covered by Cornell Cooperative Extension Educators, Master Gardeners and other gardening experts will be weed management, structuring a compost system, the history of seeds, details on cold frames and how to utilize them, planning ahead for fall and winter projects, pruning trees and shrubs and so much more! In addition to a day full of great classes, free soil testing and plant identification will be available.
