Volunteers needed to help with shucking, processing, and bagging corn September 22nd

On Tuesday, September 22nd, over 30 volunteers met at the Woodcrest Community and processed over 4,000 pounds of sweet corn! The corn was donated by RVGA Farmers – Gill’s Farm, Robert O. Davenport and Sons, Saunderskill Farms and Davenport Farms. The event was a huge success and the processing of the corn was completed in just 6 hours with the generous assistance of the folks at Woodcrest. A huge thanks to Red, Julian, Vera, Darlene and Travis, and all of the volunteers who came out to help. We produced over 750 2-pound bags of sweet corn that were frozen and will be distributed over the winter months by FAMILY volunteers to pantries and soup kitchens in the region. more info
