Empty Bowls Benefit Dinner

by | Apr 12, 2009

On Thursday, April 16th, the Marbletown Community Center will be hosting the sixth annual Empty Bowls benefit dinner from 5:30 – 7:30 pm.

Empty Bowls raises money for starving families in the Hudson Valley as well as for families all around the world. Proceeds will be given the Stone Ridge, Rosendale, and Rochester Food Pantries as well as Heifer International, a global organization striving to end hunger in third world countries.

At Empty Bowls, the public can purchase ceramic bowls that were made by a number of Rondout Valley High School students as well as local professional artists. They can then have their bowls filled with a variety of soups and/or ice creams that were donated by local restaurants, cafes, bakeries, and markets.

Following their meals, those who purchased bowls will be able to take them home and keep them. Each bowl costs fifteen dollars, and there is also the option to purchase a disposable bowls for five dollars.
