ULSTER & HUDSON VALLEY CA$H COALITION SEEK VOLUNTEERS
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
The Hudson Valley CA$H Coalition works to provide low income individuals and families free and reliable tax preparation services to ensure they claim all the credits and refunds to which they are entitled.
NUMBER OF VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:
This program is a volunteer run service. Several volunteers are needed in all aspects of the program including; tax preparation, marketing, client facilitators, technology support.
DESCRIPTION OF VOLUNTEER ROLES:
TAX PREPARERS – Prepares taxes one on one with clients using web-based software. Candidates need to have prior experience with personal taxes and experience working with computers.
CLIENT FACILITATORS- Greets files at tax sites assists with the flow of activities at the tax sites.
MARKETING VOLUNTEERS – Help to distribute material promote the program and assist with volunteer recruitment
TECH VOLUNTEERS – help on site before & during the season. Volunteers share their knowledge of networks, printers and laptops to upload software, set up tax sites with multiple computers, and trouble-shoot for preparers as need.
TIME COMMITMENT, TRAINING SCHEDULE, if applicable
PRIOR TO TAX SEASON:
Specific training provided for each role. Tax preparation volunteers attend a week of training provided by AARP Tax-Aide in conjunction with the IRS. This training takes place in December or January depending on the region. Training takes place at different locations throughout the region contact your regional representative for further information.
DURING TAX SEASON:
We ask that Tax Preparers committee to 30-40 hours during the 10 week tax season February to April. Other volunteer role’s time requirements will vary; contact your regional representative for further information.
LOCATION OF VOLUNTEER SITE:
Volunteers may choose from several tax sites located throughout Hudson Valley
