Catskill Animal Sanctuary operates with a small full-time staff, so we rely on caring and dedicated volunteers for much of what we do. If you love animals and want to help create a more compassionate world for all beings, volunteer at the Sanctuary. Our volunteers assist with animal care, business administration, Compassionate Cuisine, youth programming, weekend tours, outreach, events, special projects, and more.
To Volunteer:
View our volunteer opportunities here.
If you’re a new volunteer, complete the online Volunteer Interest Form to become eligible. We will send you a reply email with next steps.
If you have volunteered previously, complete the online Volunteer Schedule Request Form, ideally at least seven days prior to your requested shift to allow us to schedule accordingly. After submission, a Sanctuary staff member will contact you to confirm.
For your safety, as well as the safety of our animal residents, the minimum age to volunteer is 12; volunteers who are 12 to 15 years old must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Remember to check back often, since we’re always working on something new!. More info or call 336-8447. https://casanctuary.org/work-with-us/volunteer/

UCART (Ulster Community Animal Response Team)
Ulster Community Animal Response Team (UCART) is a collaboration between The Ulster County Office of Emergency Management, the UCSPCA, the American Red Cross of Northeastern NY and UlsterCorps. County Animal Response Teams serve as a specialized resource to assist local emergency management officials, as needed, in all phases of an emergency (mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery) or disaster that impacts animals to ensure the humane care and treatment of animals in case of a disaster, or other situations that cause animal suffering by rescuing, relocating, fostering, etc.; and to assist in protecting public health concerns where humans and animals interact. To learn how you can be a part of this critical community effort, please visit https://www.ucart.org or contact ucart@ulstercorps.org.

Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary
2 Rescue Rd, High Falls, NY 12440
(845) 679-5955
info@woodstocksanctuary.org
Surrounded by the Catskill Mountains in the town made famous for peace and music, Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary provides sanctuary to over 200 rescued cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, ducks, sheep, rabbits and goats.
We are a place where visitors can come face to face with these animals who most only know as dinner and learn about the benefits of plant based food choices. Here you can frolic with goats in a large open pasture, sit down with a pig who wants nothing more than a belly rub, cuddle with chickens who seek out your attention or get nuzzled by some very friendly sheep!
At the heart of our mission is the hands-on work of rescuing, rehabilitating and caring for farm animal refugees – as well as educating the public about the horrific treatment of animals bred and killed for human consumption.
WFAS is driven by the simple philosophy that kindness and respect to animals is our moral duty and that all the creatures that share this earth are here with us and not for us. Like our faithful dogs and lap-sitting cats, farm animals are feeling individuals who deserve to be treated with compassion and to live free of fear and suffering.
WFAS depends on volunteers to make our daily operations, rescue, education and advocacy efforts possible. Volunteers are always appreciated to help staff clean housing and coops, assist with grounds maintenance, prepare and set-up our visitor center, and other projects (maybe some painting or assisting feeding animals). In addition, volunteers are needed to help with office tasks and outreach. Pack yourself a lunch if you are coming for a full day (vegan of course, out of respect for the animal residents). Please contact us for more details and visit our volunteer page at
