Volunteers are the heart of any organization and Cornell Cooperative Extension is no exception. We believe that everyone can help somewhere to make a difference for a community or in the life of a child. Volunteers are a tremendous resource giving their skills and knowledge for the benefit of others in exchange for a thank you. If you have a talent or skill that you would like to share we would appreciate your help!

Esopus Creek Conservancy
Esopus Bend Nature Preserve, among New York State’s newest land trust, is a unique 161-acre preserve located partially within both the village and town of Saugerties along a dramatic bend in the Esopus Creek less than a mile from the Hudson River. We are an all-volunteer organization, and volunteers are essential to achieve our goals. Volunteers have worked to restore the meadow area where visitors can now observe a wide variety of wildflowers, birds and butterflies. Environmental education walks are scheduled throughout the year. Partnering with the Catskill Center and the Saugerties school district, we opened up Esopus Bend as an outdoor classroom for local schools. Whether you would like to be called for a special task, serve on a committee, work outdoors on the preserve, or help in some other way, we would like to hear about you and your interests.

FeedHV
FeedHV is a regional food rescue and harvesting network dedicated to meeting the needs of neighbors while mitigating the impacts of food waste. Through its network of donors, volunteers and agencies, FeedHV rescues viable food products and redirects them to non-profit agencies with food assistance programs throughout Dutchess, Columbia, Greene, Orange, Putnam, Sullivan and Ulster counties. Volunteers keep the FeedHV running – literally – making hundreds of food runs a month. As a volunteer, you set your preferences in terms of availability and frequency, and have the option to accept or decline runs. Food runs can generally be accomplished in a short period of time – even as little as 30 minutes, while you are out and about anyway. Individuals and groups with members aged 18+ with reliable transportation and auto insurance. This allows for timely and safe deliveries throughout our broad region.
