The next raciest artistic event in Kingston is scheduled for this summer on Sunday, August 23, 2009 at 1:00pm when the 15th Annual Artists’ Soapbox Derby careens inexorably down Broadway towards the Rondout Creek
which will be held near the Strand on August 23rd.
Family has been asked to help with crowd control and we will be allowed to sell water from which the profits will go to Family. We will need help from 10:30am to 4:00pm, and the event will happen rain or shine. They are expecting upwards of 50 entrants, and between 5,000 to 8,000 spectators.
We are looking for volunteers to help Family at the Artists’ Soapbox Derby, which will be on Sunday, August 23 from 11 – 3.
We need:
3 people to unload soapboxes
3 people to make sure tires are in place
2 people to direct traffic
4 people to sell raffles for bike giveaway
1 person in storefront making copies of entry list
5 people to distribute derby newsletter to the crowd
4 people to escort entries away from the West Strand
2 people for the People’s Choice Award Counter
4 people for water sales
Anyone who would like to volunteer can contact me at vread@fowinc.org or 845-331-7080, extension 140.
