ArtFarm Volunteer Day

As ArtFarm Coordinator at Women’s Studio Workshop, I like to live by the words of 90’s rapper Ice Cube: “You can do it, put your back into it.” At WSW, we have found that elbow grease and determination are the two main ingredients for wielding a successful endeavor.

Saturday May 14th,
WSW is calling for volunteers at the new ArtFarm site.

WSW needs your help with weeding, removing rocks and hand tilling soil side by side with your friends and neighbors. Interested volunteers will need to sign up for 2.5 hour time slots between 9am and 5pm. Water and snacks will be provided. Time slots are as follows: 9:00am-11:30am, 11:30am-2:00pm, 2:00-4:30pm

Tools, Loaned and Borrowed!
WSW is also looking for tools to borrow for the event (i.e. Wheel barrows, hoes, shovels, hard rakes, etc.) Tools can be dropped off at WSW or call to schedule a pickup. Tools will be returned to their owners on Monday May 16th. If you, or anyone you know would be interested in this volunteer opportunity, lending tools for the event, or more information on the ArtFarm Project, please contact Terez.

For over a decade WSW has been ahead of the curve in conducting research on the best sustainable fibers for hand papermaking grown in the Hudson Valley. Since 2002 these fibers have been grown on site, as of 2010 these plants are now rooted in our new 8,500 square-foot-plot known as ArtFarm. Now that WSW has set the foundation for the new ArtFarm site, it is time to expand our vision!
