“Food pantries are still seeing record numbers of clients,” says Su Marcy, United Way Vice President. “Going into the summer season is a challenge for families with children home from school who would normally take advantage of school meal programs. As a result, pantries traditionally see an increase in demand over the summer months,” she said. Last year’s food drive brought in 7,000 pounds of food that was distributed to 20 food pantries throughout Ulster County. This year’s goal is to collect 15,000 pounds of food.
