The Scouting for Food Food Drive is coming up! Non-perishable donations will be collected Saturday November 14th. Please help our local Scouts make this the most successful drive yet!
More than 1,000 Boy Scouts in Ulster and Greene counties distributed grocery bags last Saturday to more than 40,000 homes for a food drive for area pantries that serve the needy.
More than 2,000 volunteers are expected to assist the Scouts, according to a release issued by the Rip Van Winkle Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
Families that did not receive a bag or whose bag is not collected by noon Nov. 14 should call the Rip Van Winkle Council Boy Scout Service Center at (845) 339-0846.
All collected food will benefit local food pantries, including People’s Place, Salvation Army, Caring Hands, Happy to Help, Community Action, Family, and 32 other food pantries in the two counties.
