Phoenicia International Festival of the Voice
August 4-7th, 2016
The nonprofit Phoenicia International Festival of the Voice promotes the human voice as an instrument of healing, peace and artistic expression through presenting world class performances in Phoenicia, New York and surrounding areas. This year we have an exciting program celebrating Shakespeare & the British Isles with productions of “Otello”, “Kiss Me Kate”, “Rock the Beatles” with the Paul Green Rock Academy and much more. We are seeking volunteers for a number of positions:
1. Move Wood: Thurs July 28. 4pm – approx 8pm Move wood on and off forklifts for stage construction. We store the wood in a barn near the site and build the stage “fresh” every year. Need to move wood again on Tuesday Aug 9 from 9am – 1pm to move the stage wood back into the barn. Need the same 8 people to do both July 28 and Aug 9 – a total of about 8 hours.
2. Street greeter/Parking guide: Thurs Aug 4, Fri Aug 5 & Sat Aug 6 from 6pm-8:15pm. Need friendly, welcoming people to greet festival attendees and guide them where to park and to the the Main Stage. At 8:15, greeters can walk over the the main stage and watch the night’s performance. When the show ends, greeters head back to the their designated areas to help guide people out for approx 45 minutes to an hour after the show ends. Need up to 15 people. There will be an orientation meeting to go over the job before the festival – date to be determined. Need volunteers to do at least 2 of the 3 evenings.
3. Festival clean-up and stage & fence dismantle: Mon Aug 9. 9am – 5pm Need any number of people. The more there are, the faster it will go!
Volunteers get a free pass/lanyard to the entire festival (21 shows August 4th-7th) as well as a free ticket to all Main Stage shows in Phoenicia Park to give a friend (a value of over $200 so it’s a great gift to give someone). After clean-up on Aug 8, there will be a Volunteer Appreciation Party with food and drink.
