You can play an important and rewarding role in the care provided by Hudson Valley Hospice, by joining the incredibly generous team of Hudson Valley Hospice Volunteers.
Patient Care Volunteers are specially trained to provide comfort, support and companionship to patients and their families. Training takes place over five sessions, a total of 20 hours, in our Poughkeepsie office. The next Patient Care training will be held in February 2020. Patient Care Volunteer training is a prerequisite for the two-day End of Life Doula training.
Administrative Volunteers provide vital support in the Poughkeepsie and Kingston offices, at community education and fundraising events and work as couriers, delivering needed supplies to home-bound patients. Administrative Volunteers receive individualized training and can start at any time.

Hudson Valley Hospice, serving Dutchess and Ulster Counties, is seeking Veteran Volunteers to help provide companionship, comfort, and support to Veterans at the end of life. Did you know that 1 out of 4 people currently reaching end of life has served in the military? Hudson Valley Hospice recognizes the sacrifices that these men and women have made and wishes to ensure them dignity and quality of life as they approach the end of their lives.
Veteran Volunteers will be trained to provide:
• Family Support to Veterans and their loved ones
• Transportation
• Errands
• Respite Care
• Community Outreach
