Job Description for RAPP Volunteers
About RAPP: RAPP, or Relatives As Parents Program, is designed to provide support and education to families raising children who are their relatives. There is a support group every month along with different activities and trips. During the support group, adults are provided education regarding their situations while children participate in fun educational activities. Refreshments are provided for each support meeting as well.
Time Needed: Support groups are once a month, usually the last Saturday, for approximately 2 hours. Meetings run from 11:00 to 1:00. An hour before and after is needed for set up and clean up.
Duties: Volunteer would help set up tables, refreshments, and materials one hour before meeting starts. Assisting the Youth Educator with the lesson or program planned for the children’s group. It would last about 1 hour and fifteen minutes. Depending on the lesson and age group of children, the volunteer would either assist with ages between 5 and 15, or watch younger children who are unable to participate. An activity such as coloring would be provided by the youth educator for children to young to participate. The volunteer would then be welcome to refreshments provided. During the refreshment time, the volunteer would help to make sure the rest of the meeting runs smoothly. An hour would be set aside for cleaning after the meeting is finished.
Additional Help: If there are any trips planned the volunteer would be asked on a case by case basis to help.
