Since 2000, the Ulster County Youth Board has recognized 200 youth, 18
adults and nine businesses throughout Ulster County during its annual Youth
Recognition Event. Be part of this year’s 10th anniversary celebration.
Ulster County Executive Mike Hein and the Ulster County Youth Board are
seeking nominations for youth and adults to be publicly recognized on a
countywide basis. The awards will be presented to the winners at this
year’s gala affair to be held May 27, 2010 at Honor’s Haven in Ellenville.
As primary sponsor, Hannaford Supermarkets is continuing its tradition to
present the Healthy Living award. Educators, parents, coaches, mentors and
youth workers across the County can nominate a child for this award “who
has initiated or participated in a project or service which has impacted or
demonstrated healthy living models.â€
Youth Recognition Awards are for those whose performances may have been
otherwise overlooked. Categories include Overcoming Difficult Odds and
Meaningful Community Involvement. The three levels for nomination include
grades 4-6, grades 7-9, and grades 10-12. These awards are being sponsored
by the Stewart’s Shops, Ulster Savings Bank, and STOP-DWI.
We will continue to recognize a group of youth with a peer leadership award
as well as to recognize the achievements of graduating members of Ulster
County Youth Court and the Ulster County Youth Leadership Development
Institute.
Adults will be recognized through a Community Asset Builders award. One
individual, one business, and one policy maker will be honored due to their
outstanding commitment to increase the assets of youth in their community.
All applications must be returned by April 2, 2010, to the Ulster County
Youth Bureau, 415 Development Court, Kingston, New York 12401. Winners
will be contacted directly.
A 10th Anniversary Recognition Journal will be printed. Businesses and
individuals who would like to contribute to this publication are asked to
contact the Youth Bureau.
