Please join us on Saturday, February 28th, for Women’s Studio Workshop’s 12th Annual Chili Bowl Fiesta! The event will take place at the Rosendale Recreation Center on Rt. 32, $5 Early admission 2pm-4pm, Free admission 4pm-7pm. Dog on Fleas and Ratboy Jr. will be providing family-fun-infused music starting at 4pm. Over 700 bowls and tumblers, handmade in WSW’s ceramics studio, will be for sale at the event. Each bowl was created on a potter’s wheel or hand built by resident artists, local potters, staff, interns or volunteers who have participated in WSW’s internationally known programming in the past year. Shoppers at the event will enjoy the use of their new bowls immediately, as each purchased bowl comes with a hearty helping of chili. All of our Fiesta Chili, cornbread and lemonade is generously donated by over 20 renowned Ulster County restaurants, including Mohonk Mountain House, Rosendale Cafe, and P&Gs, to name a few, with vegan/ vegetarian selections also available.
Every year, the Chili Bowl offers the community a chance to support and appreciate locally produced art, and learn about WSW and its programming. It is WSW’s long standing mission to operate and maintain an artists’ workspace that encourages the voice and vision of individual women artists, to provide professional opportunities for artists, and to promote programs designed to stimulate public involvement, awareness, and support for the visual arts. Over 200 local & international artists, and 100 at-risk students from Kingston School District are served annually by WSW’s subsidized residency programs, art-in-education collaborations, internships for emerging artists, advanced-level workshops, and community classes. Support from this event helps make WSW’s future programming and community involvement possible.
