Wawarsing Ellenville Complete Streets Advisory Council Seeks New Members
In the final days of 2014, both the Town of Wawarsing and the Village of Ellenville passed Complete Streets resolutions that commit the municipalities to stronger efforts for accommodating pedestrians, bicyclists, public transit users, and people of all ages and abilities when building transportation infrastructure. The resolutions also establish a joint Wawarsing Ellenville Complete Streets Advisory Council, which will identify and support the development of potential future transportation projects and efforts.
Six members will be appointed by the Town of Wawarsing and five members will be appointed by the Village of Ellenville to the Council. Applications to become a member of the Council can be found on the left bottom side of the Creating Healthy Places Ulster website: http://www.creatinghealthyplacesulster.org/healthy-activity.html
Applications are due on February 13, 2015 to Kristen Wilson by email at kew67@cornell.edu, by fax at 845-340-3993, or by mail at Cornell Cooperative Extension Ulster County, 232 Plaza Rd., Kingston, NY, 12401. Complete Streets are streets for everyone. They are designed and operated to enable safe access for all users. Pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists, and public transportation users of all ages and abilities are able to safely move along and across a complete street. Complete Streets make it easy to cross the street, walk to shops, and bicycle to work. They allow buses to run on time and make it safe for people to walk to and from public transit stops.
