The mission of the Center for Creative Education is to create a better world by nurturing and empowering youth and community through the arts. The Kingston center offers a dance and percussion studio, homework and tutoring center, and a computer music lab that is being developed in collaboration with the Kingston School District’s Department of Fine Arts and Enrichment. Volunteers needed for office help, clean-up, and event assistance.

Program is for children ages 5-12 and it will offer:
Homework help and other enrichment activities such as reading, writing, crafts, technology, financial literacy, and life skills lessons.
We are looking for volunteers to help us facilitate and supervise the activities.

Ulster County Transition Coordinating Council is seeking volunteers from the business community to go into local high schools to role play job interview sessions. With just an hour or two of your time, you could provide a valuable experience to young people in our community by conducting mock interviews. Hudson River Maritme Museum
Hudson River Maritime Museum in Kingston has available a variety of volunteer opportunities. Staff are seeking people to assist with guided history and educational tours within the museum galleries and around campus. Volunteers are also needed for public tours on board Solaris, the museum’s 100% solar powered tour boat and floating classroom. No experience is necessary and training will be provided. Prospective volunteers should have an interest in local history, weekend and/or evening availability, and a desire to work with the public. Kingston Boys & Girls Club is seeking 2-3 tutors for 1-2 days a week each between the hours of 3-5pm to assist with homework help, especially with reading comprehension and math for youth ages 8-15. Max’s Kansas City Project – FEARLESS YOUth
The Max’s Kansas City Project is wanting to mobilize a team for our teen empowerment through the arts program FEARLESS YOUth, to reduce the risk of substance abuse and suicide we introduce teens to the arts as a creative outlet. After the success of of Arts Workshop series with Kingston High School students we will be launching a Youtube and Instagram channel to expand on the program and plan to partner with other substance abuse and suicide prevention and mental health programs in the Hudson Valley. Mentor Me of Ulster County’s mission is to match at-promise youth to inspiring mentors focused on whole person wellness and supportive relationships. We pride ourselves in recognizing that every child comes from a unique background and experiences toxic stress and life situations in different ways. We pay attention to Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES). We ASK the compassionate questions, respond in HELPing statements and work towards HOPE. Ulster Literacy Association Tutor Training Workshops

The ULA student waiting list has reached 100! This means all these folks are waiting patiently to meet a tutor and get started on building their reading, writing and conversational skills.
Workshops train adult volunteers to work in a one-to-one tutoring situation with adults who want to improve their reading and writing skills. There is a fee of $30.00 to cover the cost of material and handouts. This is due at the time you sign up for a specific workshop. Volunteers also needed to cover the front desk, handle the phone, and other office tasks.

Loaned Executives serve as United Way ambassadors to local businesses. In this capacity they:
Teach employees and employers about United Way programs and services
Assist Employee Campaign Managers to set United Way campaign goals and plan campaign strategy
Coordinate United Way presentations
Distribute United Way materials
Employee Campaign Managers (ECMs) are volunteers within companies that work closely with Loaned Executives to present information about the United Way to their fellow employees.
Community Fund Volunteers are responsible for reviewing requests for funding, and then making recommendations to the Board of Directors of the United Way of Ulster County.
