They are an amazing group of women who are now on the first leg of their year long journey with one another.
The Associates range in age from 24 – 52; are married, divorced, single and in partnership; black and white; employed, self-employed and not employed; in school now, perhaps thinking about more education, or want to pursue alternative interests. Some have small children, grown children or no children. What they share, is a desire that is stronger than their fear to envision their future; and with the support and commitment of a Mentor get to the “next step in their lives”
The Mentors come from all walks of life and experience. Some work or have worked in corporations, colleges, schools, non-profits, healthcare & entrepreneurial endeavors. Others are artists or performers. They range in age from their 30’s and up, are black, white and Hispanic, have children or don’t, are married or not, and all of them have passion, commitment, and a desire to help another women along her journey.
We are now preparing to interview and match 11 more Mentoring Partnerships to reach our goal of 20 mentor-pairs in 2009.
Please join us on May 2nd for one of either the Associate or Mentor session to find out more about this ground breaking program and to see if it is a “fit” for you.

We are searching for the next group of Mentors & Associates. Attend the Orientation. If you determine that this program feels “right” for you, you will be asked to submit an application and we will schedule a time for us to meet together and discuss the program in more detail.
We welcome a diversity of life experience, family background, sexual orientation, ethnicity, education, work, and/or volunteer experience and religious affiliation.
We would be thrilled to be able to include all who apply. However we are limited to selecting 11Mentors and 11 Associates for the rest of this year. We are committed to making the best matches possible between Mentors and Associates to ensure utmost success.
The matching process is as follows: Interested women are requested to fill out an application. These will be available at the Orientation meeting or when you call us to register, and upon request.
All applications are reviewed by the program coordinators at Jewish Family Services. Upon review, potential Mentors and Associates will be invited to join us for a more in-depth personal interview of 30 – 45 minutes. We look forward to meeting with you getting to know you and, of course, for you to get to know us.
To become an Associate, you must be at least 18 years old. Our first commitment is to select Associates who have overcome adversity and are ready to use and build upon the support, structure, knowledge & wisdom of a Mentor. Associates should be prepared to commit at least 10 hours a month. The more time and energy you put into this experience, the more benefit you will receive.
This program is offered to ALL women. However, Project HOPE is not intended as a therapeutic program. Therefore, it is not designed for those who are actively addicted to drugs/alcohol, nor those who are presently involved in domestic abuse situations. If you have suffered with addiction you must be in recovery for at least 8-12 months. If you have experienced domestic abuse, you must be in a safe and stable situation for 6 months plus. However, should problems resurface during your Mentoring year, we will assist you in getting to the help that you need.
To become a Mentor, you must be at least 30 years old, believe that you have the wisdom, experience, knowledge, compassion and desire to make a significant difference in the life of another woman. We estimate that this role could take up to 8-10 hours a month between mentoring sessions, group supervision, and whatever additional work/training may be required.
All applicants will be contacted and informed after the screening interviews are completed about our selection decisions.
Once matched, a day of training will be scheduled bringing the the Mentors and their Associates together. You will engage in an exciting Visioning Experience in which each Mentoring pair will define and launch their work together!
Please contact us by email ProjectHopeMentoring@gmail.com or Call our office: 845-338-2980 to register for the Mentor or Associate Orientation Meeting; and/or to request the Mentor/Associate Application.
We have had a terrific start and are eager to share the future with you.
Looking forward to meeting you,
Warmly,
