Interns will be immersed in the natural beauty and highly creative summer atmosphere of this third Mount Tremper Arts Festival. They will work closely with the executive and artistic directors and will participate in all aspects of running the festival and artist residencies. Responsibilities will vary widely and may include production assistance, box office and house management, marketing, preparation of artist’s rooms and meals, and the shared, ongoing cleaning and upkeep of the house and grounds. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license. Duties will include early morning and late evening hours. Dates are somewhat flexible but will be most of July and August.
Interns receive housing (or a small stipend if live-out), dinners (homemade from the organic vegetable garden), studio space when available, and the opportunity to see performances and spend time with the world-class performing and visual artists in residence at Mount Tremper Arts. Interns will have full access to the Mount Tremper Arts grounds which include 150 wooded acres, hiking trails, and a swimming hole.
Nestled in the Catskill Mountains, next to Woodstock and just over two hours from New York City, Mount Tremper Arts supports contemporary artists in the creation and presentation of new works of art. Founded by photographer Mathew Pokoik and choreographer Aynsley Vandenbroucke, MTA fosters an environment of creative risk taking and intellectual curiosity. It does this through an integration of performances, exhibitions, artist residencies, educational programming, and informal gatherings. 2010 Mount Tremper Arts Summer Festival artists will include: ETHEL String Quartet, Miguel Gutierrez, members of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, Matthew Porter, Will Rawls, Karinne Keithley, Foofwa D’Immobilite, Ryan Kelly and Brennan Gerard, among others. Past festival artists have included: robbinschilds, Liz Sargent Installations, Brian Brooks Moving Company, Monica Bill Barnes + Company, Mark Jarecke, Collective Opera Company, and Kimberly Bartosik. www.MountTremperArts.org
