The MARK Project is a non-profit organization working to coordinate flood relief aid to the areas of Fleischmanns, Clovesville, Arkville, and Margaretville, New York. Many of the homes in these areas have been left uninhabitable due to mold growth, electrical and heating concerns, and structural damage. MARK is seeking volunteers to assist with the “Clean Sweep Program” to try to address these issues.
With winter right around the corner, we are in dire need of skilled volunteers and rebuilding materials. We are looking for volunteers that would be able to join our assessment teams. We only have a small group out there doing these assessments and they are struggling to keep up. Their job is to meet with the homeowner and help them through the process of getting their home cleaned out. We need volunteers that would know what needs to be done to clean out a home after its been wet and how to properly sanitize once the home dries out. Eventually we will be looking for volunteers knowledgable in rebuilding homes, but we are still in the process of trying to gather rebuild materials.
We are also looking for volunteers that aren’t necessarily knowledgable, but can work with an assessment leader that can direct them to what needs to be done. After the assessment leader and the homeowner agree on what work will be done, these volunteers can come in and do the mucking out and tearing out of sheetrock, insulation, and/or flooring under supervision of the assessment leaders.
We have collected the necessary supplies over the past few weeks for our volunteers to use while they are working.
Cannot thank you enough!
