The Greater New Paltz, Hudson Valley Region is part of a bustling Agriculture and Community Minded Movement. Farmers and related organizations are always looking for ways to expand production, build better farm and garden systems, and provide food and education for their communities.
Here is your opportunity to get involved and expand production and educational opportunities throughout The Hudson Valley Tri-State Area. With the partnership of several organizations and community gardeners, Liberty View Farm offers many resources to support community groups who improve access to good food in their neighborhoods.
We provide workshops, consultations, and how-to demonstrations.
Volunteer Internship Description:
Incredible educational opportunity for students and workers seeking to gain organic farming experience alongside some of the Hudson Valley’s best community and business-minded farmers. Liberty View Farm is seeking a volunteer apprentice(s) beginning April-May through summer/fall season for small-scale apple orchard. Seasonal work includes working alongside farmers maintaining organically grown apples, vegetable gardens and flower gardens; added-value processing, market assistance, and animal chores, including feeding and care of chickens, goats, and sheep. An innovative farm very community oriented. An incredible working environment in a beautiful location, 10 minutes outside of New Paltz, New York.
•10-15 or 20-25 hours/week
•Flexible schedule (can be arranged by season, or month-to-month)
•Farm proximal to public transportation (Bus, Metro North to New York City: 1.5 hours)
•Skills learned include organic orchard care, vegetable farming, animal care, farm machine skills (tractor, etc.), marketing techniques.
Application should include contact information, previous growing experience (if any), and a short paragraph of intention. You should be in good health, good attitude, and clear on your availability when you apply.

In addition to raising apples, Liberty View hosts farm-based education field trips, charity events and fund raisers, added value kitchen processing (including cider-making), and an edible landscaping business. Farmer Billiam and Rene’s superior marketing and communication skills make them excellent mentors for someone looking to learn techniques in running a successful farm business where produce is just the beginning of the on-farm operations.
Applicants should consider their schedule and future goals when balancing their (flexible) schedule. Working alongside the farmers in the beginning of the season, towards more independence as the summer and fall come, is crucial.
