Jewish Family Services volunteer orientation

at the BRC building, Development Court.
Volunteer opportunities include transportation of seniors for appointments and food shopping and visits and compassionate calls to the home bound. We are planning a conference in the spring for Caregivers and will be holding meetings beginning next month. Help is needed to make our conference a success.
Volunteer training is scheduled for Monday November 2, 2009 @ 4:30pm – 6:30pm
at the BRC building, Development Court. Training includes guidelines for home visitors, listening skills, boundaries and other issues particular to seniors.
Programs include: Licensed social workers who make assessments of mental health status, ablility to perform activities of daily living and referral to other support services where needed.
Our Caregivers program responds to the needs of those who face the issue of burn out. Running in six sessions, we have groups in Kingston, New Paltz and a new group in Saugerties.
Grandparents raising Grandchildren program provides professional help and a network of others who are in the same situation.
Our newest program is Project Hope, a mentoring program of women helping women.
