Volunteers are an important part of the Historic Huguenot Street family. Consider sharing your love of the Hudson Valley and its history by becoming a volunteer.
What volunteers do:
- Lead visitors on tours of the historic homes.
- Interact with the guests in the Visitor Center.
- Investigate genealogy, history, and other topics in the library.
- Assist the curatorial staff with the management of our collections.
- Celebrate with us at special events.
No previous knowledge is necessary and all training is provided.
Benefits of being a volunteer:
- Volunteers receive free, guided tours, reduced rates to special events, monthly coffee-hours, end-of-season gatherings, and other benefits.
- Volunteers learn about the history of New Paltz and the surrounding areas. Special topics of interest include art, architecture, archaeology, archives, preservation, and material culture.
- Volunteers will have the opportunity to meet new and interesting people, and share with them their love of the Hudson Valley. Volunteers become a part of the story here on the street, while supporting a member-sponsored, non-profit, National Historic Landmark District.
If you have any interest in history or working with the public, we can tailor an experience to meet your needs, abilities, and interests.
All are welcome!
If you are interested in learning more about volunteering please fill out and return our volunteer application form to Courtney Russo, Guest Experience Coordinator, at 88 Huguenot Street, New Paltz, NY 12561 or courtney@huguenotstreet.org
