Women’s Studio Workshop au•gust Art Festival
Our first au•gust art festival will be a free, public art festival, running August 7th – 29th in Rosendale. Almost 30 local, national, and international artists will present con[temporary] videos, installations, performance art and sculptures along the mile of the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail that links the WSW studios to Rosendale. The kick-off event will take place on August 7th, starting with a video festival curated by Dani Leventhal at the Rosendale Theatre, and ending in a video festival Q&A and after-party at the Belltower on Main Street.
The festival will run Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of each weekend between the 7th and 29th, and will include art, poetry, and foraging walks; workshops; video screenings from local artists; and many different public art installations. All events are family- and youth-friendly.
WSW will need volunteer help (starting Friday, August 7th) for a variety of different things, including: performers for certain artists’ costumes, videographers, photographers, docents/guides, people to set-up and break-down for site-specific events and screenings, and possible some artist assistants.
As of now, we’ll need 50-75 people for the entire festival. Skilled volunteers are needed for the videographer and photographer positions, only. All other positions fairly standard, though people should be able to easily talk to passersby on the Rail Trail. Volunteers must be on-site; they cannot work remotely.
Interested parties should contact the festival Program Director, Heige Kim at heige@wsworkshop.org or (845) 658-9133.
