UNITED WAY OF ULSTER COUNTY IS RECRUITING COMMUNITY FUND VOLUNTEERS!!!!
SEE WHERE YOUR UNITED WAY DONATION GOES AND THE GOOD IT DOES!
Visit United Way funded programs, meet the staff, and see the programs in action.
What’s a Community Fund Volunteer?
Community Fund Volunteers help United Way distribute funds (year 1) and then visit funded programs (year 2) to see how the programs are progressing. This year we’re recruiting you to help us visit and evaluate funded programs. However, our hope is that you would be available to review funding requests in spring 2015.
Do I need any special training?
United Way provides a two-hour training that covers everything you’ll need to know to do a proper site visit. If you are a brand-new volunteer to the United Way process, we pair you with a more experienced volunteer or staff person for the actual site visit.
When is the training?
Training is Wednesday, June 4, from 3:00-5:00 p.m., at the Business Resource Center, Room 117, One Development Court, Kingston. (Ulster Avenue, next to the Kings Valley Diner. Facing the building, it’s the far left entrance).
When do site visits occur and how much time do they take?
Site visits take place between July-October, 2014. It is expected that each volunteer will be perform 1-2 site visits lasting approximately 3 hours each. In November there is a Site Visit Report Meeting where volunteers report their findings to a committee of their peers and United Way staff. Taken together, the total time commitment will be 7-10 hours between July-November, 2014.
Is anyone eligible to become a Community Fund Volunteer?
Anyone is eligible to become a Community Fund Volunteer except staff members of United Way funded agencies. If you volunteer at a United Way funded agency, you are eligible to become a Community Fund Volunteer, but in order to avoid any conflict of interest, we ask that you excuse yourself from any deliberations pertaining to the agency and you cannot perform site visits at these agencies.
If I’m interested in becoming a Community Fund Volunteer, what do I do next?
Download and complete a Community Fund Volunteer Information Sheet. Return it to Stacey Rein by Friday, May 30, 2014, via email, fax to 845-331-4789, or send regular mail to:
