Repair Cafe
Saturday March 21th, 2015, 10am-3pm
New Paltz United Methodist Church on Main Street, New Paltz
Volunteers Needed!
Repair Cafe Valet: we need 1-2 people to be at the sidewalk when people drive up to allow them to drop off their item to be repaired & then go park. Parking is very limited near the church. When they return after parking, their item will be safe on the sidewalk with our Parking Reception volunteer. Repair cafe limits items to those that can be carried by one person. If it rains–they will have umbrellas too–but hoping for no rain!)
Cafe volunteer: we will have a variety of baked items to be displayed and sold from the church kitchen. (The Repair Cafe is a free event, including free coffee and tea; baked treats and fruit are for sale). Plus make coffee in the church coffee maker and maintain hot water for tea.
Two shifts – 9am-12pm and 12-3:30pm
Do you like to fix stuff? You’re welcome to help out at any of our worktables as a Repair Coach.
If you can help or for more information please contact John at 646-302-5835

Mission
To transform our throw-away economy, one beloved item at a time
To reduce stuff going into the waste stream
To preserve traditional repair know-how & skills, and pass them on, especially to the young
To show the people who have this knowledge that they are valued
To feed our curiosity about “the way things work”, provide scientific diversion & fun!
To build community and sustainability
Repair Cafe New Paltz is a free meeting place for sharing and repairing things. The idea was born in Amsterdam in 2009.
At the Repair Cafe you’ll find tools and materials to help you make the repair you need: on furniture, small appliances & housewares, clothes, crockery, toys and more.
You’ll also find “repair coaches” such as electricians, seamstresses, mechanics and all-purpose fix-it pros to get you started and help along the way.
Plus coffee, tea (free), baked treats and fruit (for sale) to sustain you on your repair journey!
