The American Red Cross is asking the public to kick off 2020 by doing something big: Give blood or platelets now to address the critical need for blood donors of all blood types – especially type O – and platelet donors.
Eligible individuals are urged to give now to help ensure lifesaving blood products are available for patients who depend on transfusions for survival. As a special thank-you for helping to meet the need for blood and platelets during this critical time, those who come to give Jan. 1-19, 2020, will automatically be entered for a chance to win an exciting Super Bowl LIV trip for two.
You can help support the Red Cross at this crucial time:
- Use the Blood Donor App, visit RedCrossBlood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) to schedule your blood or platelet donation appointment.
- Reference the attached talking points and online guide to encourage friends, family members and your social networks to make an appointment to donate blood or platelets this winter, and be sure to use this social media graphic.
- Consider hosting a Red Cross blood drive. If you know of someone who is willing to sponsor a blood drive, please ask them to submit their information at RedCrossBlood.org/HostADrive.
- If you are a member of a local community organization, please consider sharing an email message with the group encouraging them to participate in the campaign.
