Thursday, 6:30-8pm. Join us for an open house to learn more about the Mohonk Preserve’s exciting new Junior Ranger program. Starting in September teens (ages 13-16) will meet once a month to learn the basic outdoor skills necessary to become an outdoor ranger or naturalist. These skills will include a day of guided climbing instruction, Wilderness First Aid training, Leave No Trace instruction, and developing wilderness leadership skills. The course runs from September through May culminating in a 4-5 day backpacking trip to the Adirondacks in late July. The evening will begin with a brief introduction to the program followed by a presentation by our ranger staff. Families are welcome, parents are encouraged to attend with interested teens. Please meet at the Mohonk Preserve Visitor Center located at 3197 Route 44/55, Gardiner, NY. For more information call 845-255-0919 ext. 1239.
