Marbletown Founders Day 2015
WHEN: June 27 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
WHERE: Ulster County Historical Society at the Bevier House, 2687 state Route 209, Marbletown
DETAILS: The Third Annual Founders’ Day event will celebrate the 312th anniversary of Marbletown’s original land patent grant of 1703 with a dazzling display of local art, history and locally produced wares that are hallmarks of the Rondout Valley. The historic Marbletown Seal replica will be on display. An art exhibit and sale, curated by Sevan Melikyan, director of the Wired Gallery in High Falls, and featuring paintings, sculptures and photography of 20 local artists, will also take place. A morning and afternoon lecture by Town Historian Gail Many will give a brief summary of the history of Marbletown. A photography exhibit by Jim Smith will feature select objects and artifacts from the Ulster County Historical Society’s permanent collection at the Bevier House. The Rondout Valley Growers Association will be selling local produce. In addition, there will be award-winning floral displays by local floral designer Dianne Hart, pretzel croissants by Twisted Jeanne’s and a children’s craft activity, sponsored by the Stone Ridge Library and which will involve planting herb seeds and butter making.
