Join Kingston Parks and Recreation as we clean up Kingston Point Beach for the summer. Spend a fun day volunteering and cleaning. This event is co sponsored by Riverkeeper clean sweep.
The 9th Annual Kingston Clean Sweep will take place on Saturday, May 5th, 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers will pick up litter lying along the “Kingston Corridor”from the railroad crossing on Washington Avenue through the uptown business district, down Broadway to the Rondout waterfront, as well as on some side streets. The Kingston Clean Sweep is sponsored by the Friends of Historic Kingston with support from the City of Kingston and numerous other business, service and civic organizations.
Organizations and individuals involved in last year’s Kingston Clean Sweep include the Business Alliance of Kingston, Family of Woodstock-Kingston Cares, Junior League of Kingston, Kingston Boys and Girls Club, Friends of Senate House, Kingston Kiwanis Club, Kingston Land Trust, Kingston Lions Club, Kingston Opera House, Kingston Rotary Club, Kingston Uptown Business Association, Rural Ulster Preservation Company (RUPCO) St. Joseph’s School, Ulster Garden Club, Veridian Energy and Ward 9.
Each group oversees a designated section of the “Sweep Corridor.” Last year, volunteers from students to senior citizens collected 25 cubic yards of trash and yard waste.
Individuals are welcome to participate. Trash bags and plastic gloves are provided.
