Invasive Weed Pull
Saturday September 10, 2016 10am-4pm
Maurice D. Hinchey Catskill Interpretive Center, 5096 Route 28, Mount Tremper, NY
Cornell and the Master Gardeners are working with the Maurice D. Hinchey Catskill Interpretive Center to do a weed pull on September 10 from 10-4. We will meet there and join teams of recruited volunteers who will work together to remove invasive plants from an area that will later be planted to create a riparian buffer. Lunch, tools and gloves will be provided. There will be a short talk by John Thompson of the Catskill Regional Invasive Species Partnership (CRISP ) and we will have a woods walk after the pull. Please help if you can. The interpretative center is a beautiful place to visit. Most of the material we will be pulling is really very small multi-flora rose, barberry and even stilt grass. There is some bittersweet but it looks pretty easy. So come and see some small invasive plants, learn how easily they can be removed and have a fine lunch provided by the Phoenicia Diner.
Cornell wants folks to pre-register and it would be helpful so they can provide enough lunch. Here is the link-https://pub.cce.cornell.edu/event_registration/main/events_action.cfm
