Looking for an excuse to get your hands in the soil this year?
Wallkill Valley Land Trust (WVLT) is seeking community members interested in helping to manage invasive plants. This coming spring WVLT is jump-starting our invasive species management program on Joppenbergh Mountain in Rosendale, NY. We are the owners and stewards of this special land, and we welcome our community (YOU!) in helping us care for it.
Join us for one of two short informational volunteer orientation sessions at the Rosendale Community Center on either Thursday February 22nd from 5:30-6:30PM or on Sunday March 18th from 4-5PM. Light refreshments will be served.
Julia Palmer, WVLT’s Director of Land Stewardship, will lead the presentation and discussion. Topics to be covered include:
-Introduction to Joppenbergh Mountain (history and ecology)
-What are invasive species and what impact can they have on an ecosystem?
-How can management help?
-Common invasive plants found on Joppenbergh Mountain
-2018-2019 scope of work and management goals
We hope to see you there!
