On Sunday, September 16th, from 10AM-1PM Hudson Valley Seed needs your help to get the Robert Graves Elementary School garden ready for classes!
In the coming year, Robert Graves students will use their school garden as a living laboratory and to grow and eat delicious fresh produce. To prepare the garden to serve as a classroom space, we are asking people of all ages to stop by the Robert Graves Elementary School garden on September 2nd to lend a hand, learn a skill, and share a meal!
During the Garden Work Party, we will:
– Lay down a wood chip path for students to walk on
– Create a “digging station” for decomposer exploration
– Weed the perimeter of the garden to make space for future garden benches and planting
– Share a potluck (optional-bring a dish if you would like to participate!)
– Discuss the plans for the outdoor learning space for the coming year
– Celebrate the transformation with a banner hanging and photo
… and more!
The garden work begins at 10:00 AM and at 12:30 PM attendees will be invited to participate in a potluck in and around the school garden. Please bring a dish to pass if you plan to partake! People of all ages, knowledge, and physical ability are encouraged to participate in this Work Party. Please remember to dress for the weather and to bring water, sunscreen, and garden gloves/small tools if you have them. Some tools and gloves will be provided. At the end of the Work Party, we will hang a banner on the garden fence and take a photo to celebrate the transformation!
