Volunteer Training

The Crime Victims’ Assistance Program will be expanding the training program schedule from once/year to twice/year. Training for Certified Rape Crisis Counselors will be conducted this Fall at the Crime Victims’ Assistance Program Conference Room. Applicants are interviewed prior to the start of training. Volunteers come from all walks of life, and some have been with us for many years.
The 40-hour training is approved by the New York State Department of Health. In addition to this, Certified trainees are required to complete 10 hours/year of continuing education related to trauma, sexual assault, and/or domestic violence.
In order to be eligible, applicants must be over 18 years of age, possess a clean driving record and a reliable car, and be able to commit to at least one (1) year of service after training is completed. For more information and an application, please call the number below.
