Child’s Play?

Volunteers needed to help build playground in Kingston for children with autism
If you have some free time over the weekends of September 19th or 26th, The Center for Spectrum Services needs your help at their school, located at 70 Kukuk Lane, Kingston.
The school will be building two playgrounds, one for preschool and one for school-age children. “We are installing cozy spaces, playground equipment, and active play areas, each with shaded areas. The equipment and design were specifically chosen to meet the social, sensory and spatial needs of our students with autism spectrum disorders,” said Susan Buckler, who co-founded the school 39 years ago. Play is an essential building block for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
The Playgrounds Project has successfully raised over $100,000.00, and seeks to raise another $40,000.00 to complete funding for the Kingston playgrounds, as well as a playground to be built later this fall at their school in Ellenville.
The project needs volunteers to help on Sat, September 20, and Friday through Sunday, September 26-28. Both skilled labor and helpers of all sorts are needed. Refreshments and lunch will be served.
