Blissful Bedrooms is a non-profit that enhances the lives of disabled youth from the South Bronx. We do extreme bedroom makeovers for severely physically disabled youth (who have little oppourtunity to leave their rooms), as well as host a plethora of events throughout the year (including a weekly adaptive art program, a beach day, and a community picnic). We have an upcoming big event that we could really use volunteers for… the Annual Camping Trip in Saugerties! For labor day weekend, we bring about twenty disabled youth and their families from the Bronx to Saugerties, for a whole free weekend filled with accessible activities, relaxation, and memory-making. It’s an incredibly powerful and joyful weekend that is transformative for the young adults and their families!
This year, it’s from September 1st-3rd and we need help from local big-hearted volunteers! We have lots of tasks available, including help with set-up (August 30-31st), preparing food during the event, providing entertainment (music, workshops, activities), and more! There is lots to do to make such a big weekend happen, and we will find the right task for you!
If anyone is interested in assisting with the camping trip, please email me with a little bit about yourself, your interest in helping with Blissful Bedrooms, and your availability from August 30-September 3.
