UlsterCorps’ 10th Annual Service Summit brought together community leaders from the nonprofit, business, higher education and governmental sectors to address the work and value of volunteerism and collaborative projects in Ulster County. The 2019 Summit focused on reducing barriers to volunteerism: addressing transportation challenges and expanding remote volunteer opportunities. It featured panel discussions of successful case studies, new models, and best practices. Special thanks to our speakers: KT Tobin, The Benjamin Center at SUNY New Paltz, UlsterCorps Student Associate Board Members Jackie Rankel & Juliana Sebben; panelists Carol Hargrove, Ulster County Area Transit, Vivi Hlavsa, Settled and Serving in Place (SSIP), Lisa Hantes, Angel Food East & Ulster Literacy Association, Kelly Formoso & Lauren Whitman, American Red Cross Eastern New York, Amy Summers, Raising HOPE Ulster and Patrick McDonough, Ulster County Office for the Aging. As always the Summit included roundtable discussions giving all attendees an opportunity to participate and network.

UlsterCorps’ 9th Annual Service Summit brought together community leaders from the nonprofit, business, higher education and governmental sectors to address strategies and new media tools for expanding outreach, broadening the volunteer pool and developing an inclusive service environment.

TOPIC FOCUS:

strategies and tools to communicate your non-profit’s story more effectively
expand your audience through social media and other outreach platforms
engage volunteers with special needs; strategies for access and accommodations
tools and best practices for recruiting and supporting underrepresented populations
engaging volunteers of all ages and from diverse backgrounds more effectively
volunteerism as a force for inclusion, bringing communities together, and bridging barriers

The Summit also featured roundtable discussions, in English and Spanish, giving all attendees an opportunity to participate and network. La Voz at Radio Kingston broadcast the Summit live from 10am-12pm.
