Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: ‘What are you doing for others?'” Each year, Americans across the country answer that question by coming together on the King Holiday to serve their neighbors and communities. It calls for Americans from all walks of life to work together to provide solutions to our most pressing national problems.
January 17, 2011 will mark the 25th anniversary of the Martin Luther King, Jr. federal holiday. This milestone is a perfect opportunity for Americans to honor Dr. King’s legacy through service.
UlsterCorps will launch it’s new ‘Serve Together‘ program on and during the MLK National Service week with a series of open houses, volunteer training sessions, and other service events. A range of volunteer events are planned for Monday, Jan. 17th through Jan. 23rd. UlsterCorps is commemorating Dr. King’s vision for empowering individuals, strengthening communities, bridging barriers, and creating solutions to the challenges of our community like hunger, homelessness and joblessness with its planned events.
