The Coleman Cares 4-H Youth Club of Ulster County will host their second annual pie baking contest on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at the John A. Coleman High School located at 430 Hurley Avenue in Kingston. Categories are apple, other fruit, and misc. There is a $7 entry fee per pie. Entries must be delivered between 9:30am and 10:00am.
Not a baker? Join us for pie tasting and tea at 1:00pm when the winners will be announced. Professional judges will be on hand to award prizes for each class.
All proceeds will benefit The Smile Train, the worlds leading cleft palette surgery organization for children. In 2008, the contest raised $333 for The Smile Train. This amount covered the cost of one surgery for one child. The goal this year is to raise $500, which will cover the cost of two cleft palette surgeries.
This event is sponsored by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ulster County’s 4-H Youth Development Program. For more information call Michele Grazier at 845-338-2750.
