PRESTIGE TOYOTA OF KINGSTON LAUNCHES COMMUNITY RELATIONS PROGRAM WITH GIFT TO ULSTERCORPS
As part of its values-based business model, Prestige Toyota of Kingston has officially launched a formal Community Relations Program. The year-round, ongoing goal of empowering local organizations and community programs by providing them with resources began with a major gift to UlsterCorps, a countywide resource dedicated to fostering a culture of service and collaboration by increasing volunteerism through successful and effective placements and the development of collaborative relationships within Ulster County.
Charlie Roszko, Partner at Prestige Automobiles in Kingston, shared, “It is the incredible initiative and selflessness of organizations like UlsterCorps that make our region such a unique and special place in which to live and work. An important component of our business model at Prestige Auto Group is charitable giving, focused on those who are truly enhancing the lives of people around us, which UlsterCorps does every day, all year long, in countless ways. When Hurricane Irene devastated our area, we wanted to ensure that the philanthropic dollars we shared would be maximized in helping with a flood relief project. We are thrilled that we were able to provide support to UlsterCorps for their general operations, who coordinated the collection of unused crops to help bring food to those in need. We look forward to an ongoing partnership with them so that they may fulfill their broader vision and bring better quality of life to those who are touched by their work”.
Rik Flynn, a retired teacher who helped develop UlsterCorps and now serves as Board President, shares his gratitude for the relationship with Prestige of Kingston. “in this economic climate, it is critical that for-profit entities like Prestige of Kingston partner with organizations like UlsterCorps to enhance quality of life for everyone in our region. We are thrilled to have Prestige as part of our donor family”. He went on to discuss how the partnership helped specifically following Hurricane Irene by supporting the overall operations of UlsterCorps. “Critical information about storm relief initiatives was disseminated through our website, www.ulstercorps.org, including E-news and Action Alerts, which facilitated connections between needs in storm damaged areas, service organizations and folks stepping forward to help their neighbors and other members of our larger community”.
UlsterCorps has tremendous vision for the future and the team there has already developed a solid foundation. Rik Flynn remarks, “Following Hurricane Irene, we organized the collection of unused crops by working with farmers and then delivered the much-needed produce to soup kitchens and food pantries. Our ultimate goal is to end hunger in Ulster County, which can absolutely be accomplished if we continue to put resources to work for those in need. Most people want to be of help to their community – and I always tell them that if they have even just an hour, we can make sure that their time is maximized, and direct them to efforts which will help others”.
