SECOND ANNUAL HUNGER EVENT FOCUSES ON CHILD HUNGER
WITH DELEGATES FROM REGIONAL SCHOOLS
On Sunday March 27, 2011 more than two hundred students from schools in
the Hudson Valley region will participate in an Oxfam style Hunger Banquet
to facilitate dialogue around issues of child hunger in the Hudson Valley
and in America. The event sponsored by The Queens Galley and UlsterCorps
will be held at Mt St Alphonsus in Esopus.
Attendees at a Hunger Banquet are likely to leave filled with hope and
literally hungry as 85% of guests are served next to nothing to eat. A
lucky 15% of attendees will however dine on a sumptuous meal prepared by
CIA trained Executive Chefs Greg Garrison and Analisa LaPietra as well as
celebrity icon, Chef John Novi of the Depuy Canal House.
Guest speaker is Chef Timothy Cipriano, Executive Director of Food
Services for New Haven Public Schools. Chef Cipriano is one of ten chefs
handpicked by the White House to work with Sam Kass, White House Assistant
Chef and Food Initiative Coordinator for Chefs Move to Schools as part of
the First Lady’s Let’s Move Campaign.
Student voices will come from a wide variety of sources, Onteora, New
Paltz, Kingston Catholic, Poughkeepsie Day, Bard College and the Culinary
Institute of America are some of the schools that will be represented.
Tickets for the event are free of charge but available by reservation
only. Seats open to the general public are limited and are available
online www.thequeensgalley.org or by calling (845) 338-3468. Donations
will be accepted to offset the expenses of the event and can be made
online at the Queens Galley website.
