Celebrating your service to the community and honoring the legacy of Dr Martin Luther King Jr.
Volunteers from ALL Ulster County non-profits are welcome at UlsterCorps’ 11th Annual MLK Day Celebration of Service, POSTPONED TO MONDAY January 20th, 2020, 12-3pm at the Rosendale Recreation Center, 1055 NY-32, Rosendale, NY. The event honors volunteers from service organizations throughout Ulster County for their hard work and dedication.
The day will celebrate the broad circle of kindness and generosity that knits us together as a community and demonstrates the value of the volunteer spirit across all generations. The event is free and features live music by The Mead Mountain Resonators, Marji Zintz and the New Progressive Baptist Church Choir; refreshments from local restaurants; and raffle drawings for the volunteers. Speakers include: County Executive Pat Ryan, unveiling a new Call to Service Youth Program; Congressman Antonio Delgado; Pete Shults, Ulster Savings Foundation; Reverend Evelyn Clarke, honoring the memory of Esther Taylor-Evans; and Jon Nyquist, honoring the memory of Tom Nyquist. Volunteers from all Ulster County non-profits, fire and rescue teams, as well as their families and friends, are welcome to attend.

MLK Day of Service Volunteer Orientation for local hunger relief programs

Would you like to help increase access to nutritious foods in your own communities? If so, please join us for a Volunteer Orientation on MLK Day National Day of Service, Monday January 20th, 9-10:30am at the Everette Hodge Community Center, 15-21 Franklin St, Kingston. You’ll learn about the many opportunities to help support and grow local initiatives to address food insecurity and improve the quality of food available to those in need in our community. Volunteer opportunities include: helping to grow, glean and distribute fresh produce donated by local farms; delivering meals to homebound individuals; preparing lunchtime meals at a community cafe and evening meals at an after-school program; picking up food from local grocery stores; stocking/organizing shelves and preparing food packages at your local food pantry; assisting with food drives, community meals, and more.
