The mission of the Woodstock Volunteers’ Day Committee is to acknowledge and recognize all the volunteers in our community. Our goal is to have the volunteers know that they are valued and appreciated. An additional aspect of our mission is to raise awareness about the wide circle of kindness which is interwoven through out our community. We strive to model these neighborly qualities for our children.
Planning is currently underway to hold the 6th Annual Woodstock Volunteers’ Day on August 21st. This is a day in which the members of our community come together to celebrate the fact that we have such wonderful neighbors. This is an opportunity to help us all remember what is good about our community. Of course we are reminded everyday of the considerable acts of kindness and personal generosity that our volunteers quietly offer us on a daily basis, never asking to be thanked. On Volunteers’ Day, the volunteers are the “Guests of Honor.†On Volunteers’ Day we come together to celebrate and to honor our volunteers for a community should never take its volunteers for granted.
The Woodstock Volunteers’ Day Committee recognizes all the charitable, community and service organizations in our community. Each volunteer is given a Certificate of Appreciation from the Woodstock community, a music festival is performed in their honor, the volunteers are treated to lunch and their children/grandchildren are provided a playful activity.
